Stockade Brew Co.’s new brewery, bar and tasting room in Marrickville, Sydney is the latest hot spot for award-winning, indie craft beers, hearty food and educational master classes and tours. If you haven’t had a chance to visit, here’s your first look inside.
Behind the business is a young team of four that has been quietly brewing their success in the south of Sydney since 2015. However, with the original home not open to the public, they decided it was time to give the lovers of their beer somewhere to hang out and try more different and limited edition tasting drops.
Peeking inside, you’ll discover an old factory-come-brewery with an art-déco theme and plenty of different seating areas to suit groups of all sizes. The main features are the tasting room tucked away amongst barrels for a private master class vibe and the bar.
Made from repurposed staves from the barrels of Stockade’s brews, the bar offers the usuals, as well as a number of beers not available anywhere else – give The Mountie syrup-infused imperial stout a go for a cracking example. For the non-beer lovers, there is a list of six seasonal cocktails, made with a spirit that has been infused, aged and finished at the brewery and flavours that match the characteristics of the hops used in the beer, so you won’t feel left out. That’s not all either, there are also wines that are aged in the barrels used for the beer for added flavour and connection back to the site.
You’ll find an added touch of Stockade’s beer in the food too. Partnering with a number of flavour filled food trucks, the changing offering at Stockade will bring American-style burgers, pan-Asian BBQ and Mexican to punters. Right now, try burgers from the Wild West Burger. Order the maple bacon jam with Stockade’s Mountie Stout or the chilli and cheese-loaded fries with Chop Shop Ale Dressing.
