Produced in the heart of Brooklyn, New York, Widow Jane Whiskey is made from the very bed-rock of the city. Literally. Rosendale limestone, which holds high the Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty, filters an incredibly smooth water which makes superb whiskey. They source their name from that of the quarry where they source this sweet stone. They also source sweet spring water from the caves of the Widow Jane quarry, which they use to make their superb whiskey. Of course, unusual origins don’t guarantee incredible whiskey, which is why Widow Jane works with an array of corn to produce its beautiful Brooklyn-born bourbon.
For founder Daniel Preston, experimentation in search of an ideal recipe was always at the heart of his distilling. Daniel, who is a former aerospace engineer trained in chemical engineering, feels that “While fermentation and distillation are basic chemical engineering, the ‘art’ of making spirits is in the choosing of ingredients and the development of a palate.“. True to this art, organic heirloom wheat, ancient corn varieties and Dominican sugar cane come together to create incredible craft spirits.
