Master Blender’s Selection No.1 is one of the most interesting new spirits released in summer 2016. It’s a slightly sweet, slightly over-proof, single-batch blend of 80 to 100 eau de vie, aged up to 16 years in two- to four-year-old Limousin oak. Interestingly Hennessy is targeting bourbon drinkers, right down to the square bottle which is a first for Hennessy.
Hennessy Master Blender’s Selection No.1 is endowed with bright amber colour and a golden sheen, it expresses a round and rich subtlety. It is bottled at 43% to release powerful aromatic tones as well as delicate spicy notes.
Master Blender’s Selection No. 1 will be available in 375ml and 750ml sizes, with a total case run of 9,300, sold exclusively in the U.S. Each bottle is individually numbered and signed by Fillioux. When it’s gone, it’s gone. Hennessy recommends enjoying it neat, on the rocks (to temper the spice and bring out the fruit notes), or paired with salted caramels or a pasta with white truffles and Parmesan cheese.
