2018 Mort’s Block Riesling is a classic Clare Valley Riesling, with fruit from our Morrison vineyard on the opposite hillside at Leasingham providing additional depth and complexity. The Mort’s Block vineyard was planted by Mort Mitchell, Founder Kevin Mitchells father in 1969, it pays homage to Mort and is a celebration of his hard work and dedication after planting, caring, and hand tendering the vines for over 40 years.

Multiple harvests from different blocks gives the winemaking team the ability to capture differing acid and flavour profiles. This allows for the creation of a wine with immense character and a complete organoleptic profile. Each parcel gently pressed to stainless steel, then fermented cool for between two and three weeks to retain the freshness and vibrancy of the fruit.

Pale straw with brilliant clarity. Freshly squeezed lemon and macadamia notes give way to delicate floral aromas. Intense lemon pith and grapefruit with a talc like grip, bracing mineral focussed acidity drives the palate to a refreshing finish.

Recently the 2018 Mort’s Block Riesling was awarded a Gold Medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards and the Clare Valley Wine Show.
