MARITIME GIN: INSPIRED BY OUR COASTLINE
Did you know that the Coastal Saltbush we use in our Maritime Gin grows just above the high tide mark all around the coast of the Mornington Peninsula?
Its silvery grey leaves are fleshy with a salty, herbal flavour and have been combined with golden sea kelp, samphire, vine leaves, local currant bush and other locally foraged, native botanicals to create a gin that is truly reflective of our home here on the Mornington Peninsula, where fresh salty air meets the eucalypts and wine-growing hinterland.
Here at the distillery we’ve found that saltbush is best foraged in pairs, so passers-by don’t feel threatened by the presence of someone rustling deep inside the bushes searching for perfect leaves, while gazing out over a pristine Port Phillip Bay and the constant parade of passing pooches.
Inspired by the coastline, sea breeze and rocky shores of the Mornington Peninsula, this fresh, savoury gin delivers a uniquely Australian twist to the classic dry gin.
