West Winds Gin from Margaret River South of Perth in Western Australia are set to release their first ever barrel aged gin this Winter 2016. The first barrel aged expression to be released is the Maidenii Voyage. The name plays on the concept of “maiden voyage” and has been created in tandem with Australian Vermouth producers, Maidenii, using their Sweet Vermouth. An Australian-style vermouth it features wormwood, strawberry gum, river mint and wattle seed.
In true Australian Negroni style the vermouth barrels truly enhance and complement our first batch of Barrel Expedition gin,” The West Winds said in a statement.
The West Winds plans to expand the collection over the next few years, working with a variety of barrels from suppliers of wine, whisky and more over the next couple of years.
